KUMPU

kumpu
A sculptural cast iron trivet you can leave on the table.
Designed by Mika & Julie Tolvanen. The word ‘kumpu’ means mound in Finnish. KUMPU's mounds gently rise from the table's surface, elevating your cookware, protecting your table from heat, dents, and scratches.
A unique sand mold is made for each trivet, shaped by hand at the foundry. After each use, the sand is saved and reused to cast the next piece. Each piece is handmade, sandcast at a third generation family-owned foundry.
Made in Sweden.
Cork pads are affixed to the bottom. Heat seasoned with the same non-toxic method that is used on cast iron cookware, KUMPU can be re-seasoned and passed down for generations.
To renew the surface, simply rub the trivet with a thin, even coat of vegetable oil. Cover a baking pan with a sheet of baking paper, and place the trivet face up on the pan with cork pads resting on the paper. To protect the cork pads, oven temperature should not exceed 325 F (163C).
